The Challenge
The transition cliff
When young people exit foster care in California, support ends abruptly at 18. The consequences are documented and devastating, with 30 to 40 percent experiencing homelessness within 18 months, fewer than half employed two years after aging out, and less than 10 percent completing a four-year degree.
Youth of Purpose was built for this gap, offering transitional housing and leadership development for young people 14 to 24 exiting foster care, probation, and residential treatment, the moment when most other systems disappear.
What we provide
Five interconnected pillars designed to walk alongside youth from stabilization to self-sufficiency.
Financial Competency
Budgeting, banking basics, credit building, tax literacy, and introductory investing taught through hands-on workshops.
Education, Workforce & Career Pathways
Resume workshops, job placement partnerships, postsecondary planning, and direct exposure to employers across industries.
STEM Education & Technology
Hands-on STEM learning, youth hackathon events, digital skills training, and mentorship from leaders in the tech sector.
Entrepreneurship & Business Formation
Legal structures, EIN registration, pitch development, micro-grant access, and founder mentorship from active operators.

Hands-on AI app development, design thinking, and pitch prep with industry mentors. Youth go from sketch to working prototype with the same tools real founders use.
Cohorts shipped working products on Lovable and presented alongside engineers, founders, and investors who treated them as peers, not as students.
Participants leave with finished projects, real industry contacts, and proof that they belong in the room. The skills carry forward into school, work, and what they build next.
